Corporate Overview
Bed-Check was the pioneer and continues to be the standard in patient fall monitoring systems. The Bed-Check System serves as an integral part of a fall reduction program. Its exclusive purpose is to monitor those patients assessed to be at risk for falls and to alert their caregivers that immediate intervention is required.
We develop, manufacture, and support our systems through a qualified engineering, biomedical and technical staff. Our products are promoted and serviced by a trained medical sales force throughout the United States and Canada.
History Over a quarter century ago, an electronic monitoring device was designed in an attempt to minimize injuries caused by patient related bed-falls. Bed-Check, then a privately held company, presented its product to the public as an affordable and effective occupancy monitoring system. We created an alternative to the use of restraints and emphasized patient rights and dignity. We launched an educational campaign through patient fall reduction programs and seminars keyed at identifying those at risk for falls. Our product was promoted within these programs, and, in independent hospital studies, our system was documented to increase the effectiveness of fall prevention programs more than 50 percent. Our efforts have aided in increasing the awareness of bed-, chair-, and toilet-related falls and have created a need for Bed-Check products as a viable solution to a problem. Today, Bed-Check is a division member of Stanley Security Solutions, Inc. and part of The Stanley Works, a publicly owned Fortune 500 worldwide corporation.
Testing and Standards
All Bed-Check® products undergo extensive clinical testing and evaluation, have passed applicable Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory requirements and are in compliance with federal regulations prior to entering the market place. In addition, every single Bed-Check control unit is tested before shipment. We know of no competitor who 100% tests.
Bed-Check Systems® have numerous features covered
by U.S. patents.
Bed-Check Systems
All of our systems have two basic components:
Sensormat -- This is a pressure sensitive mat that senses patient weight on the bed, chair, or toilet. It is connected with a cord to the Control Unit.
Control Unit -- The "brains" of the system, the control unit is about the size of a small portable radio, and is installed on or near the bed, chair, or toilet. We have four control units to choose from, with a variety of options in power, tones, volumes, delays, and hold settings. Click here for more details on our Products Page.
Support Services
Bed-Check's authorized Distributor network offers personal in-service training on site for best product and system use. An instruction manual is shipped with every control unit; videos and other educational material are available. Technical questions are referred to our corporate Engineering Department through a toll free telephone number: (800) 523-7956.
